Dr Juliet Winter SFHEA

“Juliet is kind, patient and encouraging. What I really valued was how Juliet helped me learn to find appropriate sources to support an argument, identify the key points and produce an essay that is succinct and persuasive .”

Aleasha – Undergraduate Humanities Student

My Background and Experience

I have a decade of experience teaching in higher education, from foundation level through to master’s level, and have worked with students studying various courses across the humanities and education fields. My academic background is American Studies, an interdisciplinary field which explores the culture, history, politics, literature and society of the United States. I have taught across American Studies, English Literature, Film, History and Media degree pathways.

In addition, I am a learning and teaching specialist and worked in an educational development capacity at the University of Winchester between 2015-2026. As part of this role I supported university lecturing teams to deliver sector-recognised good practice in their teaching and assessment. This included teaching on our MA in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education.

In 2013 I was awarded my BA (Hons) in American Studies and in April 2026 I was awarded my PhD. Alongside this I have a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching (2016), a Postgraduate Certificate in Research Skills (2018), and was awarded my Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in 2025 for leadership in learning and teaching. I hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate.
